I just took in a teddy bear hamster from a home that no longer wanted him and his nails are very long. I have a feeling he might have issues with his teeth too because he constantly looks like he is chewing... He's aggressive and I can't really hold onto him long enough to do anything about his nails without him biting me. Should I take him to the vet and have them check out his teeth/clip his nails? If so, how much would this cost me?My hamsters nails are very long?
i would take him to the vets to take care of his teeth and nails.
It's something you can't do on your own without hurting the hamster.
At the most it should cost 35 dollars since it is a tiny animal. My hamsters nails are very long?
take it to the vet to clip them so you don't have to use your nail clippers the real ones can be tricky and harmful on hamsters so go to the vet. tell your hamster i said hi! lol
heey
take ur hamster 2 da vet and ask him/her 2 check ur hamsters teeth nd cut his nails 4 yhoo :D

Cockatiel nails still long and they have new chicks now.?
I was unable to cut my tiels nails properly so they are still long. Their first chick hatched yesterday. I'm worried that the parents might walk over the babies and cut them with their nails. What now? Should I worry? Can I also serve Quackers instand oats? It's hard to find whole wheat bread in Taiwan. What can I do?
They still don't eat the hard boiled egg yolk. I give a fresh one every 2 days. Should I mix it with something? Is it very important for them?Cockatiel nails still long and they have new chicks now.?
Don't worry about the claws cockatiels are usually very gentle with their babies. My birds won't eat egg either. I just answered your last question, go to that and the site I suggested for a whole list of good food for cockatiels. www.cockatielcottage.netCockatiel nails still long and they have new chicks now.?
The previous answerer said she already answered the food question, but here's my input if you want it: Feed your birds BIRD food. If you can't get quality bird food from a popular pet food distributor in Taiwan, try feeding your 'tiels seeds from flowers or something you bring in from outside that is COMPLETELY natural (In other words, any fruit or seed that you can walk outside your home and pick right off of a wild plant, and also a wild plant that has NOT been treated with weedkillers/herbicides). Only feed them wild food if you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT get them store-bought food and they are IN DANGER of starvation.
Good Luck with your feathered friends.

How do you make your nails grow really long in a short amount of time?
Drink a lot of milk (or have something with calcium) to make sure that your nails are strong. If they're not strong, they won't grow very well. Try keeping a clear coat of nail polish on them to keep them looking nice. Make sure that you file them in one direction so as not to cause snags in them which can make them break more. These tips combined with regular manicures and the use of nutranail or green tea will help them grow fairly quickly. Good luck!!How do you make your nails grow really long in a short amount of time?
buy that nail polish that is especially made for to make nails grow. it works. in a week they will have grown a lot. good luck. i had that problem too and it workedHow do you make your nails grow really long in a short amount of time?

faster than it would w/out. you can't say any amount of time, because every body produces and takes to vitamins differently.
How can i test what brand of nail polish last the longest?help! need to know by tonight?
im thinking of doing this for my science fair project but i was wondering if i could test it.
help!!!!!
need a topic by tonight! How can i test what brand of nail polish last the longest?help! need to know by tonight?
set a time line. and then get a group of friends to to use a different brand each.
see whos last the longest etcHow can i test what brand of nail polish last the longest?help! need to know by tonight?
That isn't going to make a good science fair topic at all. How much information could you possibly fill a display board with based on comparing nail polishes?
I suggest rethinking. For example, in 8th grade my science fair question was ';How do different genres of music affect your heartbeat?'; It's still easy to do, but I was able to make a graph and research the heart, etc.
i would re think it. i had a project like that my 10th grade chemistry and i used which lipstick stays on the longest and it didn't go that well cause it kinda hard test that. to test it every thing would hav to be constant and that's hard to do. if i was you i would used which batteries run the longest. you can do that by get common toys that run on batteries and have them run nonstop til all of them stop working and see which on ran the longest.
paint each of your nails with a different nail polish. and see what lasts longest.
have your friends use the same brands on the same fingers.
the only downfall is: you use some fingers more than the other ones..
polish small areas with different polishes, then try to gently rub each with nail polish remover (one rub) %26amp; the one that has the most polish still on it after one gentle rub is the one that stays on the longest
use a style make rainbow and see how long they stay on and if they do stay on short but one stays on long u know what kind then try the brand :)makeup tips

Will my toenail fall? and if so, when will it do so and how long will it take for the nail to grow back?
Last week I dropped a bed frame on my big toe. Immediately after this i went to a band rehearsal (which means two hours of standing). My nails were painted at the time so it wasn't until i took the polish off that i noticed that nail was a blueish-black color.
The next morning i went to the doctor and he drilled a hole in my nail (with a paper clip!) and al the blood came out over the next few days.
Now a week later, most of the pain is gone but it looks white, there is still a clearish liquid coming out of the hole, and the nail is starting to feel loose.
Will i lose my nail? If so, when and how long will it take and how long will it take to grow back?
80% of my shoes show my big toes or all of them. Will my toenail fall? and if so, when will it do so and how long will it take for the nail to grow back?
you will loose it in a day or two. Unfortunately it will take months before your nail grows back in I'm guessing about 4 or 5

Puppy's nails are too long, but I'm scared to cut the blood vessel!?
I got busy preparing to travel back home and went about 2 weeks without noticing my puppie's nails. They are pretty long and I managed to clip them down a tiny bit, but the blood vessels are so long now, I can barely do it.
I already kinda hurt one nail where I couldn't see the very tip of the vessel and don't want that to happen again. For now I just filed the tips.
What should I do about trimming her nails? Do the blood vessels grow longer when the nails are overdo for a trim? And now that they seem so long, how can I manage to trim the nails?
Thanks for your advice.Puppy's nails are too long, but I'm scared to cut the blood vessel!?
Use a dremmel tool with 120 grit sand paper, take an 1/8 inch off each week until desired length. The quicks (blood vessel) will grow longer if you do not trim the nails. With each trim/filing the quick will recede farther and farther back.Puppy's nails are too long, but I'm scared to cut the blood vessel!?
yes...when the nails are overdue for a trim the the ';quick'; (the blood vessels inside the dog's nails) grows longer as well...you are wise to be wary of the quick as cutting it can cause your pet to bleed to death...I advise you to call your vet and just ask what -if anything- you can do about managing the nails now? filing them is probably a good idea as long as you don't overdue it...another way of keeping your pets' nails trim is to walk them on concrete or asphalt daily (sidewalk instead of grass-we do this for our dog who does not like her paws touched and it lessens how often she has to get her nails trimed)
I had it happen to my golden and the best thing i found was to regurarly trim the nails down to the shortest length, and eventually you can get the nails back to the size you want. This is a long process though.
just trim them of little by little..
but what i would do is take ur dog to the vet to trim the nails
its the best solution
its what i do because i hate trimming my dogs nails especially when i cut a vessel
just go to ur vet and ask for a trimming
every vet does it
I see that someone told you not to bother doing this, that the nails stop growing on their own. sorry, not quite true.
I have one whos nails grow in circles. his dewclaws actually can loop back on themselves if I don't pay enough attention. and his hind legs grow in a ';C'; pattern.
you got some good advice about asking a vet or a groomer to do it for you. but, ask them to show you how while they're doing it.
The quick or blood vessels will recede with cutting. Cut a little at a time, evey week. You will soon notice that you will be able to cut more as the quicks recede. If left the quicks will lenghten with the nail. Rather than using a septic powder or corn starch if bleeding ask the vet if you can purchase some cauterizing sticks. These look like long matches and all you need to do is touch the bleed with the stick to stop bleeding.
they stop growing after a while
go to the vet
Just dont cut the nails... Why does a dog need nice cut nails anyways?
The blood vessel is caklled the quick, and yes, they can increase in length if the nails are left untimmed for a while. Just continue to take off short increments every other day or so until the nail is back to the normal length. The quick will recede as the nail shortens. I assume that since you say you can see them, that your dog has the white or clear nails? You could also just file them daily.
Go to a groomer or a vet and let them do it at least this time. Then, if you feel comfortable doing it after that, try try again.
Try trimming a tiny bit off weekly. I dremel my dogs and my foster dogs. Never nicking the qwik
If you're really afraid to cut the nails, you should just take the dog to a groomers...it's not expensive at all. Also, there are products to stop animals from bleeding if you cut their nails down too far. You can probably find them at a pet store. Good luck :)
Take them to your local groomer. They are trained to do this stuff and i know don't wan't to hurt your puppy.
Just take him to a vet to get his nails trimed.
You should use animal nail cutters. They kind of look almost like plyers. But as for a rule of thumb, you can see both pink and gray/white regions on the nail. Cut after the pink/gray region to cut off only the gray end part ;)
get a professional to do it for you or show you how. like a groomer or your vet. and ask them about things to be careful about. then if you feel comfortable, do it yourself
You can file them regularly or take it to the vet or groomer for trimming if you are nervous. Most vets and groomers charge about $10 for a nail trim.
