Yes you can cut the nail with clippers and filing them down. The thing about clippers is that if you put too far up it will hurt the lizard and cause the nail to bleed. Filing them down is more simpler. You can use a regular nail filer. If you want to clip the nails, first give the lizard a warm bath. This softens the nail and it becomes more able to clip off. When you begin to clip the nail, do it fast but not too hard or too far up the nail. If you do it slowly the lizard will want to get away and it will feel that you are doing something to the nail. So do this quickly and you should not have a problem. I find the filing more simpler though. On youtube you can search videos that are about clipping a lizards nails. you should use a nail brush when you wash your hands.... if your nails are stained and won't come clean, dip in a cup with household bleach in the bottom (just enough to cover your nails). Then they will start putting thier unwashed, poopscooper nails in thier mouth when they're eating!
The other nasty thing is when they wll scrap dried crust out of thier nose when they think noone is looking. Course she will go right from picking her nose to eating french fries or something.

Yes - you should.. THOUGH, if you don't feel comfortable doing so you can make sure you get perches for them that are fat so when they land on it their feet can't wrap entirely around it. This helps to make sure their nails stay filed down constantly. Those skinny little perches are the culprits for disgustingly long nails.
If you'd like to try trimming them yourself best to catch the bird and have someone else hold it while you do the trimming so you can hold the foot while you clip. Make sure you use nail clippers specifically for birds (you can use the same ones they sell for cats, they're usually the same anyways) and just don't clip anywhere past the pink ';quick'; if you want to risk bleeding.Should I cut the nails of a finch , they seem long..I just got these birds.?
