Firstly, those are bad for your nails! (LOL) Check out the place you go, maybe just sit and watch them do someone else first, and make sure they use CLEAN tools, or you can get a BAD infection. If you are getting a pedicure do NOT let them use a razor on your feet. (They use it to scrape at the heels to soften them, and not only can in potentially hurt like hell, it can also get severely infected.)
Regular acrylic nails can last up to two weeks depending on how fast your nails grow, and most places ';fill'; them (place another layer of acrylic on the growth and smooth it out) for a cheaper price than the original set. Go get them done at a salon,I go to a salon called ';Cali-Nails'; they are great!!
Silk wrap are good it cost about 65 to 70 dollars for a full set and they are the least toxic. You have to get them filled every two weeks.
dont get the french tip cause there hurt more when taking off instead get nail with a design or something as long as the dont put alot of the poweder thing on because that the thing that hurts the most and it can get chip easier with the french tip

Longest Nail Polish?
Whenever I paint my nails, the color always chips off the very day after or so. I like to create detail on my nails with polish, so after all that hard work I'd like to keep my creation a little longer... But it never does!
What's a good, long lasting nail polish?
Should I use the clear protection over-coat? What kind?Longest Nail Polish?
For colours the Barry m ones are pretty good. I wore my at disney land for a week before they chipped!

Just because you got long nails doesn't mean it's gross looking because having gross crap underneath the nail is thing that would repell me more. Also 3cm is awfully long! How do you type with nails that long as I find it slows me down a lot. I keep mind short as I type faster with shorter nails.

No! He needs his nails cut. You can only cut a bit at a time, wait a week to 10 days, then clip again. Over time, the quick will recede (gradually) and you will be able to get his nails shorter. No, they can't. Spend the whole 6 bucks and go to a groomer and have them trimmed. If you get this done about once every 6 weeks or so, he will be fine. I believe that dogs can probably be declawed, but don't get that mixed up with the same thing as getting them neutered. Getting animals declawed is near inhumane and a horrible thing to do, especially to cats.

yes as a matter of fact, my fiance had a full bred king chow and his nails were the same way and he had to take the dog to the vet and then he would get them cut for quite a hefty amount of money but they would be able to get done, it would help sometimes if the dog were to be walked on the street every day it breaks the nails down some the vet said

No it's not ok. If they aren't trimmed they will keep growing and will become very painful for your dog. Either get trimmers and do them yourself or get a Dremel and file them down. Just don't go too far at once or you'll cut the quick.

Try using Pedi Paws trimmer. It's very safe and you won't have to really worry about cutting too short and injuring the quick. And no it's not ok to let your dogs nails grow too long. It makes it uncomfortable for them to walk. It's really not that expensive to have it done at the vets office either. Call your local vet and see how much they charge. Vets in my area charge about $15 bucks. Even if he is a difficult dog and doesn't tolerate other people he can always be muzzled and restrained to get the job done at the vets. Less stress for you if he never had this done. If you want to do it yourself take things slow to get him used to the process. Reward him if he's being good with treats. Either buy pedi paws or a good pair of nail clippers. If his nails are clear then make sure not too cut too far. The pink stuff in middle is called a quick and it will bleed if you cut it plus it will hurt. The quick tend to extend if the nails are never cut so if his nails are black cut only a small piece at a time

No it's not ok. If they aren't trimmed they will keep growing and will become very painful for your dog. Either get trimmers and do them yourself or get a Dremel and file them down. Just don't go too far at once or you'll cut the quick.

Try using Pedi Paws trimmer. It's very safe and you won't have to really worry about cutting too short and injuring the quick. And no it's not ok to let your dogs nails grow too long. It makes it uncomfortable for them to walk. It's really not that expensive to have it done at the vets office either. Call your local vet and see how much they charge. Vets in my area charge about $15 bucks. Even if he is a difficult dog and doesn't tolerate other people he can always be muzzled and restrained to get the job done at the vets. Less stress for you if he never had this done. If you want to do it yourself take things slow to get him used to the process. Reward him if he's being good with treats. Either buy pedi paws or a good pair of nail clippers. If his nails are clear then make sure not too cut too far. The pink stuff in middle is called a quick and it will bleed if you cut it plus it will hurt. The quick tend to extend if the nails are never cut so if his nails are black cut only a small piece at a time

personally, long nails can be quite a hassle if you pick up stuff with it, i've seen girls desperately try to turn pages with their nails and it becomes a nightmare soon enough. long nails can also be very unhygienic because dirt can accumulate under the nails and cause an infection if allowed to progress.
on the bright side, long nails can be very stylish for young fresh women who want to look professional and classy. they should make sure the nails aren't too long that they start looking like Saruman's from the LoTR.

Recently, I cut my palm on a protruding nail in my office. I was told that several other people have also been cut by that particular nail and suddenly a terrible wave of fear engulfed me: what if someone with the disease cut himself on it too? What ifs and thousands of what ifs more have robbed me of peace for a week now.
This is all I know: at least in the immediate half an hour before I cut my palm on that nail, I know no one was cut by it. I was also told that no one has been know to have been cut by it at least in the last one day before I did.
I need to How long can the HIV/AIDS virus survive/live outside the body: (I have sifted through numerous websites and info centers: They say it's life outside the body ranges from mere seconds to two days) I'd be grateful to know what is the exact live-rate of the virus outside the body (or at least what LATEST update on HIV AIDS research say)

If the conditions were perfect for survival the virus may live for about 30 hours. On a Peace of steel ( nail) exposed to air and the environmental trash floating in the air you can rest easily. It is far more likely that you would contract tetanus than HIV through this type of contact. So get a tetneus booster and go bend that nail over with a hammer.
Don't stress at all, you have no chance of contracting HIV/AIDs from a cut from a nail. They should repair or get rid of the nail. I would be more concerned about getting lockjaw from picking up bacteria from the nail. Make sure you have had a current Tetanus shot to protect you from possible contamination.

I consider women who wear uncomfortable clothing and use a lot of their time and place a lot of value on ';looking good';, someone who may be out on the town, or someone who I'm probably going to avoid, since we aren't going to have a lot in common. Depends on the culture...
When we compare different cultures, we are being ethno-centric...in other words, we use our culture as a yardstick to measure up other cultures.
Fingernail growth is a prime example. The average North American would say that long fingernails on men is absolutely revolting, and a practice that should be left for women. In Asian cultures, long fingernails are accepted on men, and is not looked on in an 'uncommonly feminine' practice.
It is hard at a given moment not to be ethno-centric, expecially if a certain practice goes against certain morals...but for example, a bikini in North America is looked on as something normal, whereas certain cultures look on such a baring of flesh in distaste. We think other cultures are wierd, but they could probably say the same thing about us.

When we compare different cultures, we are being ethno-centric...in other words, we use our culture as a yardstick to measure up other cultures.
Fingernail growth is a prime example. The average North American would say that long fingernails on men is absolutely revolting, and a practice that should be left for women. In Asian cultures, long fingernails are accepted on men, and is not looked on in an 'uncommonly feminine' practice.
It is hard at a given moment not to be ethno-centric, expecially if a certain practice goes against certain morals...but for example, a bikini in North America is looked on as something normal, whereas certain cultures look on such a baring of flesh in distaste. We think other cultures are wierd, but they could probably say the same thing about us.

I think your question is how to stop biting your nails. It's a nervous habit, so when you feel like biting them, do something else. There was this stuff (it may still be around) that you put on your nails like nail polish, but it tastes bitter. Do an internet search for ';nail biting';. Good luck.

(soak nails in gelatin optional)
push cuticles back and apply lotion to
entire hand, nails included,
(petroleum jelly is great for nails)
then wait a couple minutes for it to soak. then wipe hands and nails.
apply a thin layer of clear nail polish, wait for it to dry completely then add one more thin layer.

everyday apply cream then push cuticles back.
and apply another thin layer of clear (also apply over the top of the nail to keep it from snagging.)

I honestly have tried every make of nail polish, including Sally Hansen Diamond strength. The problem is that I go swimming 3 times a week, which is disastrous for any nail varnish. I know it is the prolonged contact with the cold water, and of course the chlorine which is so damaging. Also I do a lot of rock and roll jiving, which is hard going on the nails from my dance partners. My nails are my own, and I don't want false ones. Are the professional salon ranges any better in water?
over 20 years ago Mary Quant made the most incredible top coat, which made ANY polish last for literally weeks on end, without a chip or scratch. The only reason it needed to be re-done was because of too much regrowth. It was made of vinyl and was so pliable, it felt like plastic. This was why it didn't scratch or chip EVER. You could make a dent in it, and rub the dent out again.....absolutely incredible!!! I assume they no longer make varnishes like this because they last forever, which means no profit for the manufacturers.

I also used barry M which is a good price and lasts quite well but then i don't go swimming often so I'm not sure how well it will last.
I wore Wet'n'Wild in Bijou Blue nail polish for about a week and half with no chipping or fading. I also swam for about an hour 4 days a week. I haven't tried any other colors, but I plan too.
Also, try putting a top clear coat, that may help it.
SeneGence Has a Long-Lasting Nail color system. I tested it last week at the sandy beach and it STAYED!
If you don't mind spending $54 for your base, color and top coat, its WELL worth it!
I put on clear nail polish (doesn't matter which brand) and then Dior nail polish, and then clear nail polish again.
It lasts longer :)

How can I make my nails longer and harder?

When I was younger (in my teens) I had really thin brittle nails that would break and tear. I used to use all of the Sally Hansen products and even drank the Knox gelatin mix in hopes of getting long strong healthy nails like all of my friends. I'm older now (30) and my nails are healthier than they've ever been. I do keep polish on them every day (work as a teller... want my nails to look nice for the public). My nails grow so fast that I have to cut them at least once a week. They get so long and are so strong and if I'm not careful I will cut myself with them or accidentally scratch one of the kids. My nails are definitely healthier than they've ever been.... and I would bet it's the milk in my diet that gets the credit for it.
There are these vitams called Hair skin and nails its like 3 dollars a bottle and u take 3 a day and it works soo much my hair grew my skin is softer and my nails are hard and long. you can get it at cvs walgreens any drug store

Detergents are particularly harsh on your nails and can cause splitting and peeling. Wear gloves when washing dishes or cleaning. You should also wear gloves when gardening to protect your nails from infection and prevent dryness, damage, and loss of natural oils.
3: Don't bit your nails or pick at your cuticles.
Aside from the obvious reason of biting shortening your nails these habits can damage the nail bed. Even a minor cut alongside your nail can allow bacteria or fungi to enter the nail bed and cause an infection. Remember your nails grow slowly so an injured nail retains signs of damage for several months.
4: Look after your cuticles.
The cuticle is a barrier that keeps bacteria from the nail matrix, where new cells are generated, so it should not be cut or trimmed. On the other hand you do want to keep cuticles from becoming overgrown, which suffocates nail growth. If your cuticle has grown out on to the nail plate, after sufficiently softening your cuticles in warm water, very gently use a cuticle pusher to push your cuticles back. As well as pushing your cuticles back this will help to remove dead skin and debris that may have accumulated. Hold the cuticle pusher at an angle, and use tiny circular movements, so that you are as gentle and careful as possible and do not damage the cuticle. When you have finished doesn't forget to moisturize your hands.
5: Look after your nails.
Trim fingernails and clean under the nails regularly. Use manicure scissors or clippers and a nail file to smooth nail edges. Never pull off hangnails - doing so almost always results in ripping living tissue. Clip hangnails off, leaving a slight angle outward.
6: Caring for brittle nails.
Trim brittle nails after a bath, or a 15 minute hand soak in bath oil, and then apply a moisturiser. Don't use nail polish remover more than twice a month. Instead, touch up the nail polish. When you do need to use a nail polish remover avoid those that use acetone, which dries out nails. Also consider using a nail strengthener and growth formula.

people tell you to eat gellatin products but i know for a fact that it dosen't help. heres what will; eat foods with a lot of vitamins and minerals firstly (you can tell if foods have vitamins and minerals if they are the same color as they were when they came out of the ground, or off the tree, etc. Fruits and Vegetables are best!)
personally i just like to take a multi-vitamin everyday but since you dont want the hassle then use Sally Hansen's ';nail strengthener/ hardener';. if you are a biter then you have to stop biting... i know its hard but just think about how great your nails will look after words! good luck! i hope my advice helps!

Small nails look bigger if you use shimmery or metallic polishes.

Bluey red nail polishes can make mature hands look older. Stick to vibrant reds or paler shades.

No more going to get your nails put on. Now you can just paint and go! I do get manicures and pedicures every few weeks so that I make sure my nails are healthy, but I don't do the artificial nails.
