Growing long nails - advice?

Since i've started letting my nails grow longer, i seem to get alot of white grit under them. As well, as they get longer they feel like they're lifting up or something, especially when i put a coat of polish on them. Does anyone else get this? Any tips? ps, i dont think they are long enough for a manicure just yet.Growing long nails - advice?
I just stopped biting my nails and I'm growing them out, too. I went to Sally's (hair/nail place) and got a kit with the file, clipper, etc. I also got a nail brush! It is supposed to help get under the nail more. I think just scratching the dirt out is what makes them go up. But I think that will actually grow out because nails curve downward as they grow. It will only curve up at the end, I guess...


My grandmother takes extremely good care of her nails, and probably has been for decades. She recommends that newbies makes sure they have base and top coats, and when you start growing your nails, go to a manicurist, because they will be able to get you started out right. Just make sure you pay attention so that you can do it yourself next time!

Keep them clean, and don't just get fake nails. Fake nails look fake, and they ruin your nails -- you have to maintain them all the time.


I use Dr Lewinns Revitanail, it's a nail hardener and it's fantastic. If you put it on daily, it really works. It whitens the ends, and allows them to grow nice and strong, and they don't look fake.
use garlic juice on yr nail.its give strenght to yr nail %26amp;make white the ends.if u r free or watching the tv just take a piece of garlic and rub on yr nail.to avoid smell of garlic dip it in rose water for 2 mins.%26amp;if u dn bother frm smell its ok.come on after all u want good n natural healthy nails so do it.see difference in weeks.take good amount of calcium %26amp;drink water also.best of luck!
get acrylics or gel overlay. it makes them a million times stronger. you have to maintain them every two weeks but your nails look nice and will grow longer.
Cut your nalis and get fake nalis. If you grow your own nails out that can get gross.
