I have a lrg dog pit/chow mix he has extremly long nails. Q. is can dogs be declawed?

No! He needs his nails cut. You can only cut a bit at a time, wait a week to 10 days, then clip again. Over time, the quick will recede (gradually) and you will be able to get his nails shorter. If you don't know how to clip nails, take him to your vet and get them to show you, then you can continue.I have a lrg dog pit/chow mix he has extremly long nails. Q. is can dogs be declawed?
No, they can't. Spend the whole 6 bucks and go to a groomer and have them trimmed. If you get this done about once every 6 weeks or so, he will be fine. If you can't afford to have it done that often, I am sure the groomer will show you how to do it when you are there, and you can do it yourself! It really isn't that hard!I have a lrg dog pit/chow mix he has extremly long nails. Q. is can dogs be declawed?
i'm sure they can but that seems cruel
I believe that dogs can probably be declawed, but don't get that mixed up with the same thing as getting them neutered. Getting animals declawed is near inhumane and a horrible thing to do, especially to cats.

Just buy yourself a pair of nail clippers and cut his nails every two months, not that hard.
I don't think so, ask the vet. If the vet says no, then either hire a groomer to do it or buy clippers on vets reccomendation and learn to clip them your self. it will be more difficult if your dog has black nails, here is a page on nail trimming.

yes they can be declawed at grooming places or you can do it yourself. You can buy pet nail clippers in the pet section at places like Wal-Mart
I don't think dogs can be declawed but you can always get your dog's nails trimmed at the groomer.
Their nails can be clipped very easily in less than a minute for about $5 at the groomer. Then if you walk the dog on the sidewalk, it files them naturally and they grow back slower.
Hello. Cats have claws. Dogs do not have claws. Go to a pet store and buy a nail cutter and cut his nails. Avoid the quick which looks like a pink line along the middle of the nail. Many grooming places can do it for a small price and will be happy to show you how. Have a great day.
yes as a matter of fact, my fiance had a full bred king chow and his nails were the same way and he had to take the dog to the vet and then he would get them cut for quite a hefty amount of money but they would be able to get done, it would help sometimes if the dog were to be walked on the street every day it breaks the nails down some the vet said
To keep your dogs nails short u should walk em on concrete or make him run on concrete. Walking or running on concrete keep the dogs nails short.. Dogs shouldnt be declawed because the walk outside and without nails would hurt their paws.. Cats get declawed because they stay in at home and dont have to be walked.
No.

However, if he's going to be anesthetized for any reason, ask the vet to cut them back short.
no dogs can not be delcawed but if his nails are getting long i would either cut them urself or have him walk on a hard rough surface it will wear the nails down.
yes. any dog can be declawed. its sort of paniful for them though.
only a Vet can answer this for you
unless your dog in an indoor dog i don't think that would be advisable but you could get his claws trimmed
No, dog shouldn't be declawed. Why don't you buy a dremmel and trim his nails down? Or, if you don't want to do it.. take him to the vet. They trim nails for a $$ fee.

Good luck.
